Fans of ITVX have been sent a warning, as users will older iPhones will no longer be able to stream the popular service. Within months, ITVX – which replaced ITV Hub as the streaming service showing all of ITV’s content – will only be supported on devices with iOS 14 or later. This is bad news for users who have older devices that do not support the more recent iOS updates, as they will no longer be able to enjoy ITVX on their phones.
This means that if you have one of the following Apple phones and tablets, you will soon lose access:
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 5c
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 4s
- iPhone 4
- iPad mini 3
- iPad mini 2
- iPad mini (1st generation)
- iPad Air 1
- iPod touch 6th generation
If your Apple device is even older than the ones mentioned here, you will not be able to use ITVX either.
Fortunately, you will not lose access immediately, as ITV told the team at Cordbusters that support for these ageing devices would cease from the end of August 2023.

This leaves you with a few months to review your options, whether it means buying a new iPhone, or using another device that is compatible with the ITVX app.
According to the broadcaster’s website, the ITVX app also only works on Android devices running Android version 5.0 (Android Lollipop) and later.
Launched in December 2022, ITVX offers thousands of hours of content and includes both new and original shows, and a massive back-catalogue of classic ITV shows, Hollywood blockbusters, dramas, and documentaries.
ITVX has both a free and premium version and is available across multiple devices, including iOS, Android, smart TVs and set-top-boxes.
