Sony is bringing a real-life version of The Last of Us to London, but only for a limited time. If you’re in London this weekend, then you might want to pay a visit to Sony’s Last of Us installation at Boxpark Shoreditch. Running from March 17 until March 21, the special Last of Us installation is inspired by a scene from the critically-acclaimed PlayStation game and HBO television series.
Sony explains more: “This time, extraordinary scenes are unveiled in East London, where there appears to have been a serious cordyceps outbreak.
“A gamer has been found infected with cordyceps which experts believe must have happened whilst they were playing The Last of Us on PS5.”
It’s the latest stunt from Sony’s ‘Live from PS5’ campaign, which brings video game scenarios to life with a “breaking news spin”.
Not only is it a novel way to celebrate some of Sony’s biggest and best PlayStation games, but it’s also an attempt to promote the increased availability of the PS5.
The latest stunt is particularly timely, taking place just a few days after HBO’s Last of Series comes to an end.
Indeed, if you’ve already finished both Last of Us video games, and can’t wait for The Last of Us Season 2 on HBO, this could serve as the perfect distraction.
In case you haven’t played the game that inspired the hit TV show, The Last of Us is available on PS3, PS4 and PS5.
The PS5 version features improved visuals and support for Sony’s ultra-immersive DualSense controller.
It also benefits from modernised gameplay mechanics, specifically improved controls and expanded accessibility options.
The PS5 version comes with the original campaign, as well as the post-release Left Behind add-on.
If you want to further explore the world of The Last of Us, you can also pick up the sequel, which can be played on PS4 and PS5.
